How to Cook Bacon in the Oven

Thanks to a friend at work, I learned of a new way to cook bacon — in the oven. If you’ve never had the opportunity to try this method, I highly recommend it. There’s less splatter of grease. You can still get just as tender or as crispy bacon as you would by frying. And the clean-up is a breeze with a foil-lined pan.

I usually bake strips of bacon at 400° for 10 minutes to start. Then I drain off fat into a mug. Back in the oven it goes for about 5 more minutes. Sometimes the grease needs to be drained a few more times during the baking process for several reasons. One is the thickness of the cut of bacon. The thicker it is, the longer it takes to bake. Two, the level of crispness preferred.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Every oven and bacon cut and preference is different. So check on the bacon frequently to achieve the best bacon your kitchen can make!

Easy way to prepare bacon in the oven reduces the mess and makes delicious bacon.

By:

Ingredients
  • aluminum foil
  • rimmed baking sheet
  • bacon slices
Directions
  • Step 1 Set oven to 400 degrees.
  • Step 2 Completely cover the entire rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Step 3 Place 8 – 10 slices of bacon on lined baking sheet.
  • Step 4 Bake in oven for 10 minutes. Drain off grease into a mug.
  • Step 5 Place baking sheet with bacon back in the oven for several minutes. Check to see if bacon is at preferred level of doneness. If not, drain again and place back in oven for a few more minutes. Repeat until desired crispness is achieved.
