Here’s a simple way to add tasty crunch to salads, sides and desserts with toasted sliced almonds. The fragrance of them baking is the key to knowing when to pull them out of the oven. Use toasted almonds in arabesque spinach salad and in these thick and chewy chocolate chip cookies.
How to toast sliced almonds in the oven
Preheat the oven to 350°.
Measure out 1 cup of sliced almonds and spread evenly on a rimmed baking sheet.
Bake for only three and a half to four minutes. The key is staying nearby and waiting for the amazing aroma.
Once they are looking slightly toasted and you can smell the wonderful aroma, pull them out of the oven and transfer almonds immediately to a large plate. This stops the cooking process, preventing them from burning. (I’ve done that plenty of times when my attention is divided, which is much of the time.) 🙂
